Nature – Fauna

The human residents of Sheoak Ridge feel incredibly privileged to share our home with so many native species. Management of our ecosystems is derived from practices shown to enhance biodiversity of both flora and fauna – In other words, we do everything we can to understand the biology and ecology of species present in each ecosystem and work our management practices around those species, holistically incorporating the requirements of both the plants and animals.

Given the diversity of ecosystems on Sheoak Ridge, it’s fairly logical that we have a high diversity of animal species. Some of our favourite species, observed on Sheoak Ridge include: boyd’s forest dragons, frill-necked lizards, amethystine pythons, brown tree snakes, orange-footed scrub fowls, great billed herons, azure kingfishers, buff-breasted paradise kingfishers, spotted & northern quolls, dunnarts, antechinus, giant white-tailed rats… ok, I’ll stop now. 🙂 Check out the pages that give more info on each animal group and be sure to download the PDF for detailed species lists.
